Atrocious growing conditions and one of the worst summers in memory failed to deter entrants in this years show
There were 65 classes in competitions with something for everyone to
try for, including best fruit and vegetable classes, painting, tapestry,
natural wood sculpture, photography and cut flowers. The village hall was filled
with colourfully laden tables groaning with produce. Children's categories
included a collage , pictures of the pirates and islands, greeks and coasts as well as a category for a painted pebble. The
open floral exhibits competition included a prize for the 150th anniversary of Sir Edward Elgar.
